Look at the case on this little gem. While the finish could use a good cleaning, it is in very nice condition. Make no mistake, there is wear on some of the edges, but this clock has not only a beautiful patina, but also a very original finish. And then there is the pattern in the backboard.
While I have not scratched the finish to tell for sure, I don’t think it is inlaid pewter, but a beautifully painted shield that looks like inlaid pewter. As with any clock, it is tough to say that everything is original, but to my eye it is spot on.
With its deep maroon faux finish, exquisitely small proportions, metal pendulum rod, silk-thread suspension, brass bob, old side glass (the door glass looks later), correct and small wall stabilizers, this clock is just too cute.
And it is only 25 inches long! With both of its finials.
Caveats: There is a crack in the veneer above the door, and the dial is chipped around the winding hole, with one hair-line from the winding hole to the center of the dial.
