The clocks case has been beautifully restored to an unbelievable standard. It is obvious that the finish has been hand rubbed and polished to reflect the techniques used originally on a clock of this caliber. It is indeed a pleasure to run your hand over the woodwork - to feel how beautifully the restoration has been executed. With its dark walnut coloring, accented with faux finish to the inside of the door, the door rails and the inside of the top and bottom of the clock, this piece makes a refined and elegant statement. And, it is a month running Vienna Regulator with granne-sonnerie strike.

The mechanism is dirty, but appears to be in very good condition, under the oil and dirt. In addition, note the delicate piercing to the mechanism crutch, the dial, in perfect condition with no hair-line cracks, the very fine original hands, the zinc backed pendulum bob (tarnished, but with no obvious dings), the heavy weights (which need polished and a bit of work to be very presentable), the old winding key with a wooden handle, the door lock with original key, the wavy glass to all three windows, the lovely, and quite large original wall stabilizers, the five-spoke pulleys that match and are in great shape, and the old and appropriate beat scale: This clock offers an opportunity to own a very desirable clock in excellent condition.

I have found that many of my customers would like to be assured, if they buy a clock with a perfect case, but a mechanism that needs cleaned, that they can get the mechanism cleaned so the clock is ready to hang. I suspect this is one way in which SNClocks auctions differ from others - Stephen Nelson is qualified to do any of the mechanism work that might need to be done. Steve will clean the mechanism, polish and lacquer the pendulum bob and weights, and generally prepare the clock to be hung so that you will have no issues when you receive it. The tariff for this work would be $325.

Caveats: The mechanism needs cleaned and the weights and bob need polished.
